SETTINGS FOR “IF”
ELABORATE PREPARATION The stage settings of “If,” Lord Dunsany’s play to be produced by Auckland’s Little Theatre Society on March 28, for a season of four nights, will be the most elaborate scenes that the Societj' has attempted to deal with. Ten changes will be necessary for this production. Mr. Kenneth Brampton and Mr. Arnold Goodwin, ably assisted by Mr. T. V. Gulliver, have spent a considerable amount of time
on designing the settings. As many as four changes take place in one act, so it will be seen that this ambitious presentation will tax the resources of the stage management to the utmost. The lighting will be of considerable importance and a great deal of time will be expended in this direction to get the desired result. The society is fortunate in having the services of Air. Goodwin’s undeniable ability. He has made a conisderable study of art direction and stage settings. Members may look forward to seeing some excellent work when “If” is staged.
It is a romantic story which moves from drab London to the East, where a mild clerk suddenly takes on the power of an Eastern potentate.
