CITY PUBLICITY

£SOO GRANT SUGGESTED COUNCIL PROPOSITION The City Council was last evening advised by Councillor Ellen Melville to donate £ 500 toward the publication and circulation of an Auckland booklet. Miss Melville reported that slie was impressed with the personnel of the committee arranging the publication, and believed that a fine booklet, not only dealing with Auckland, but with the Dominion generally, would be sent out. She pointed out that about £1,300 of the amount set aside with a view to appointing a publicity officer was unexpended. The question was referred to the Finance Committee to investigate the legal position, and the proper amount the city should contribute if it thought ratepayers’ money should be used in this direction.
