POINT CHEVALIER BATHS
CITY TO RAISE LOAN MONEY FOR CIVIC GARAGE Subject to the consent of the Local Bodies Loans Board, two loans, aggiogatins £30,000, will soon be placed before the ratepayers. One will be for £IS,OOO for the Point Chevalier Baths. This is not being pressed for until the Baths Committee finds out whether the water at Point Chevalier is fit for bathing. The issue will probably be straightout. though Councillor Alluin said, at last evening’s meeting of the council, that the council was seriously prejudicing its chances of getting the loan carried unless it went for a full programme of improving beach facilities. The other proposal is to borrow LI” 000 to build a garage at the corner of Cook and Albert Streets to house cars and other motor vehicles owned by the council.
