HARBOUR SWIM

ANOTHER CONTESTANT WEBSTER AND BAIRD When A. E. Baird tries for longdistance swimming honours across the Auckland Harbour on Sunday he will be accompanied by R. Webster, who tried recently to swim Cook Strait. \\7EBSTER is the latest competitor ’’ in the long-distance craze which seems to have become a habit with Auckland swimmers. His only trouble Is that he has no dingy to follow him and he would be glad of an offer from anyone interested. It is proposed by Baird and Webster to start from a launch at the Western launch steps at 9.30 a.m. on Sunday and to swim to Milford Beach. The course will be down the harbour and round North Head, a course which is being attempted for the first time. Baird may do the swim in about five hours, but now that he has a companion the time may be reduced.
