BOMBS ON SHIPS
TO EXPLODE UNDER WATER EXPERIMENTS WITH MODELS By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reccl. 10.15 a.m. LONDON, Wed. The First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr. W. C. Bridgeman, told LieutenantCommander Kenworthy in the House of Commons to-day that experiments were being carried out with models in tanks, to test the effect of bombs dropped from aircraft and designed to explode under the water on the hulls of ships. American experiments were also being watched, he said. It was not In the' public interest to reveal the results. “Are you aware that the American experiments have shown that large bombs dropped from aircraft could disable and sink the most modern ships?” asked Lieutenant-Commander Kenworthy. "Are the experiments with models in tanks sufficient?” “All our experiments are not made with models in tanks,” replied Mr. Bridgeman.—A. and N.Z.
