PEKING THREATENED
NATIONALISTS MUSTER MARSHAL FENG’S DEFEAT By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 9.5 a.m. SHANGHAI, Wed. It has been definitely established that Marshal Feng Yu Hsing’s forces have suffered defeat and have been compelled to retreat by the forces of Chang Tso Lin in the neighbourhood of the Changteho, on the Peking-Hankow railway. Feng appealed to Chiang Kai Shek for immediate assistance. The latter is concentrating the entire Nationalist forces, which 'are reported to number 500,000, above the Yangtse, preparatory to advancing to join Feng in an attack on Peking.—A. and N.Z.
