NOT FOR THAMES

Geo. Stubbs, owner-trainer of Speed King has been having an anxious time with his charge owing to leg trouble. The pacer has been showing signs of unsoundness for some time, and his leg has been kept well bandaged. After a work-out this morning at Epsom, which was not quite satusfactory to the owner, the tapes were removed and “Abaydos” was given the opportunity to see the troublesome limb. It certainly does not look inviting, and trainer Stubbs will experience some difficulty keeping the big fellow right, while the tracks remain hard. Speed King has not actually broken down, but racing on solid ground would soon put the Cur Thorpe gelding out of the business. Mr. Stubbs decided definitely to-day not to take his pacer to Thames for Saturday’s racing.
