SALE AT HAMILTON (Special to THE SUN) HAMILTON, To-day. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:— At the weekly stock market in Frankton yards on Tuesday, March 20, we had a good entry of cow and heifer beef, the quality being above the average, and the competition firm. Best prime fat heifers sold at £lO Is to £ll 10s; good quality prime cows, £lO to £lO ss; mediumweight cows and heifers, £8 10s to £9 ss; fighter, £6 10s to £7 15s. A lot of 34 good quality prime fat cows and heifers from the Crossing Estate, Putaruru, averaged £9 7s. Forwardconditioned cows brought £4 7s 6d to £5 10s. A fair entry of store cattle was submitted and grown steers were in good demand, best fresh-conditioned steers making £8 to £8 15s; and others £7 Is to £7 13s. Jersey cross in calf heifers fetched £6 15s to £7 4s. There was a fair entry of fat sheep, and mutton was again in firm demand. Best wethers brought 32s 6d to 345; prime fat ewes, 24s 6d to 25s 4d; unfinished, 20s to 21s 6d; prime lambs, 25s to 28s. Breeding ewes showed an advance in values, a line of 40 five-year ewes from the East Coast, realising 25s Id, and other lots, 245. Low-conditioned young ewes sold at ISs to 19s, and failingmouths, 14s to 11s lid. A line of purebred two and four-tooth .Border Leicester ewes sold at 3gns; good shorn wether lambs, 15s; medium mixed sex woolly, 15s 4d; small 12s; medium shorn B.F. lambs, 15s. A good number of fat and store pigs were penned, and late rates were maintained. Baconers brought £4 Is to £4 6s; medium-weights, £3 10s to £3 14s; best porkers, £2 12s; lighter, 35s to £2 2s; slips, 23s to 28s; weaners, 10s to 16s* small, 4s to 6s.
