MARCONI-EASTERN MERGER
IMPORTANT CABLE MOVE By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. LONDON, Monday. The ‘ffjaily Mail” says the Wireless Conference has received a confidential statement from the Eastern Telegraph Company and Marconi's Wireless Telegraph Company, containing the terms of the amalgamation agreement and important suggestions for overcoming the difficulties of unification. The fact that this statement has been made available within four days of the announcement of the amalgamation shows that co-operation between the two companies has already commenced. This is most significant. The Under- Secretary of State for India Earl Winterton, replying to a question in the House of Commons, said there had been no representation from India lest the Marconi-Eastern merger should deprive that country of benefits, but the Government was fully alive to the possible danger under a monopoly of an artificial inflation of cable charges to India. —Sun.
