FARMERS’ UNION
DISTRICT CONFERENCE IN MAY Questions concerning- the farming community were discussed at an executive meeting of the Auckland provincial branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union held last evening. Mr. A. A. Ross presided. It was decided to suggest to the Dominion executive that official representatives of the union be sent Home to the forthcoming Empire Farmers’ Conference. The question of an Investigation into the value of many of the patent stock medicines now on the market came up for discussion, and it was suggested that, its the Government was not prepared to % interfere with private rights of traders, the Dominion executive should employ an analytical chemist to determine the value and constituents of some of the medicines. It was decided to hold the annual conference of the Auckland provincial branch this year at Hamilton, on May 21. Exception was taken by several speakers to the fact that greater recognition had not been accorded the union’s answer to the Minister of Hands, the Hon. A. D. McLeod, on the question of the Ngaroma settlement.
