FIGHT WITH BLACKBERRY OWNER WANTS 7S 11D BOARD DENIES LIABILITY The adventures of a delicate canary-cream coloured silk stocking, which had had a severe tussle with something angry, were related to the Mount Roskill Read Board last evening. A FTER compensating one lady for AA the loss of a dress spoilt by a | tar-sprayer, another claim was made on the Mount Roskill Road Board last evening for the loss of a silk stocking ruined by blackberry brambles, growing on the footpath. The mother of the claimant thus wrote to the board*. — “Enclosed is a silk stocking, which has been ruined by blackberry brambles overhanging the footpath in Hillsborough Road. Some of the trailers are fully two feet over the path, and at night it is impossible to see them. lam sending the damaged article to see if anything can be done about it. The stockings cost 7s lid, and had only been worn quite a short while. Trusting you will do something toward compensating my daughter’s loss, I am, etc., A delicate canary-cream . coloured silk stocking was enclosed with the letter. It betrayed strong evidence, just below the knee, of a severe tussle with something angry. Mr. J. R. Robertson: “If every young lady who went out after dark and had her stockings torn were recompensed, the board wtfuld be inundated with claims for compensation. I think that the bord’s responsibility would end by an expression of sympathy with the young lady.” On the motion of Mr. E. A. Tozer, it was decided to reply that the board accepted no liability, and that the owner of, the property be instructed to clear the blackberry from the footpath. m
