Obituary
CONSTABLE W. MAHONEY (From Our Own Correspondent) TE AWAMUTU, To-day. The death occurred at Kihikihi on Tuesday of Constable William Mahoney in his fifty-second year. A native of Ireland, the late Mr. Mahoney arrived in New Zealand about thirty years ago and joined the police force. He was first stationed at Christchurch, then Greymouth, Wellington, Woodville, Hastings, St. Johns (Wanganui), and for the last eleven years at Kihikihi. Some two years ago he was seized with an illness from which he never completely recovered. He leaves a widow and family of three —a son in the Pensions Department, Wellington, a daughter on the nursing staff of the Waikato Hospital, and a son attending school at Te Awamutu. MR. HERBERT WEBB (Special to THE SUN) DUNEDIN, Tuesday. Mr. Herbert Webb, senior partner of the firm of Messrs. Webb and Allan, collapsed and died while crossing Dowling Street to-day. In 1911 Mr. Webb held the office of president of the Otago Law Society, and served on the Board of Governors of the Otago Boys’ High School for many years, resigning only six or eight months ago.
