SHORT MEASURE GIVEN Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. Th© first prosecution her© against a bowser-owner who gave short measure was heard by Mr. Lowry, S.M. James George Andrews, of Ferry Road, was fined £ 7 on a charge of having an incorrect measuring instrument and £3 for selling petrol short of the quantity demanded. An officer of the Labour Department said that, as the result of complaints, a test was made. Defendant was asked to supply four gallons, and it was found to be two and a-half pints short.
