MARKET STEADY BANK SHARES FIRM The market, although quiet, lias a healthy tone for all gilt-edged shares. Hank scrip still maintains good figures. English, Scottish and Austin lian are attracting considerable attrition, and New South Wales and .Hank of New Zealand stand firm at current prices. Goldsbrough, Mort are improving, with buyers at 48s 9d, and tellers 49s •id. while National Mortgage and Agency have steady buyers at 70s, with no shares offering. New' Zealand and .1 liver Plate also remain steady, buyers quoting 295, without sellers. Kauri Timber shares sold at 225, leaving buyers at 225, with no shares offering. Wilsons (N.Z.) Portland Cement are veiling freely at 38s, with further buyers at 37s 9d,‘sellers 38s. All debentures and ‘Government securities are in better demand, although few sales have been recorded.
