SUNDAY MEDICINE
“CENTRAL PHARMACY SHOULD SUFFICE” MEDICAL OPINION That the proposed closing of chemists’ shops on Sundays should not have any serious effect upon the supply of medicine for urgent cases was the opinion given by three leading members of the medical profession this afternoon. It was pointed out to them that, whereas under the present hours observed by chemists on Sundays it was not possible to obtain supplies between the hours of 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., under the proposed scheme the allnight pharmacy would be open all day and all night on Sundays. Prescriptions written within a radius of two and a-half miles of the all-night dispensary would have to be dealt with there under the regulations, but outside that area chemists would bo permitted to make up urgent doctors’ prescriptions. By the members of the medical profession, to whom this was explained, it was agreed that the central pharmacy should be able to meet the position adequately.
