In the House of Commons, the Secretary of State for the Dominions, Mr Amery, in answer to a question, the families who were assisted to migrate under the Empire Settlement Act last year totalled 8,029, comprising 31.690 persons. The total of individual migrants as- . Mated was 63,027. The total expenditure on overseas settlement last year £ 1.337,097, of which £269.000 was recoverable.

In addition to the Empire Settlement Act expenditure, the Ministry of Lub0UI ’ spent £37,000 in testing and train- **' Prospective migrants.—A. and N.Z.Sun.
