POWER BOARD REPORT
RETICULATION PROGRESS ADDITION TO PLANT NEEDED It was reported at a meeting of the Auckland Electric Power Board held yesterday, and presided over by Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, that, during the week, the service gangs had connected two underground and 68 overhead services, and erected 12 poles and 11,500 yards of cable. The new D.C. feeders from Beresford Street had been completed to the corner of Rutland Street and Queen Street, and four sets of joints had been made on the cable. The Pen-rose-Otahuhu 22.000 volt feeder cable had been laid half-way across Anne’s Bridge. It was also stated that in reinforcing the lines in Shore Road, Manawa Road, Dell Road and Orakei Road, 12 poles had been erected and cable and street lights transferred to the new poles. In Martin Avenue —Lucerne Road area—eight poles and 1,600 yards of cable had been erected and service and street lamps changed over to new poles, while in Arney Road, 10 poles had been erected, and in Kingsland area, 4,240 yards of cable erec*tion was completed. In Walmsley Road, Otahuhu, a new transformer was being erected, while 32 poles had been erected on Clevedon Road, and six poles and 1,550 yards of cable had been added to the Carlton Road, Onehunga, service. The engineer advocated the installation of a 7,000 volt cable from Beresflord Street to Ponsonby, *s such aid to the existing plant would ease the load on the main line and would stave off the expenditure of a large sum of money for six or seven years. Reference was made to the completion of the heavy cable from Penrose, which would be of assistance to the Government plant in the event of a breakdown at Hora Hora.
