LADIES’ DIVING CONTEST
UNIQUE STAGE EVENT For the first time in the theatrical history of the Dominion, a grand diving carnival for ladies is to be held on the stage of the New Regent, beginning on Friday, March 23. A huge concrete tank, capable of holding 20 tons of water, is now being constructed under the stage of the theatre for the special purpose of holding diving competitions and aquatic displays of all kinds. The competitors will dive in heats, nightly, semi-finalists being selected each evening by the vote of the theatre patrons; from these the winners will be then selected by competent judges. The measurements of the tank are: Length, 20ft; width, Bft; depth of water, 7ft. Entry is free, and full particulars and entry forms are obtainable from the secretaries of the Auckland swimming clubs, and at the box office of The Regent Theatre. Richard Dix’s new Paramount vehicle is to be “Easy Come, Easy Go,” from a stage play by Owen Davis. Gregory La Cava will direct. Dix recently completed “Sporting Goods.”
