CRUISE TO GREAT BARRIER

Raira returned on Saturday from an eight-day cruise to the Great Barrier. The party included Messrs. A. Foster, A. Alison and G. Sanford. A 36-hour stretch of very rainy weather was encountered, but based on Fitzroy the party had a most enjoyable holiday. The “Lady of Fitzroy, with her diving cat, “Skipper,” and “Starboard,” the white cat with odd eyes, blue and red. helps to amuse visitors. Schnapper and hapuka were plentiful and one of thpe party trolling aimlessly about in a dinghy had an unexpected swordfish strike, but the gear was not equal to the occasion. Several other indications of swordfish were noticed off Wellington Head.
