GRAMMAR CLU ’S NIGHT A carnival will be held in the Tepid Baths this evening by the Grammar Swimming Club. Miss Ena Stockley, the Olympic Games representative, will make an attempt on her 100 metres back-stroke record, and Miss Gladys Pidgeon, Ne wZeala.nd woman champion breast-stroke swimmer, will endeavour to make new figures for her 220 yards record. A dual relay race, in which the fastest sprinters of Auckland are taking part, is also included in the programme. There will also be many handicap events, and a water polo match. A combined schools’ swimming carnival was held at Russell on Saturday afternoon, and proved most successful. Visitors came from all parts of the district, launches being requisitioned in large numbers. The pupils from the Kawakawa, Kaikohe, Opua, Pahia and Rawhiti schools competed at the carnival, and the events were conducted by the Russell committee under Mr. C. Stallard. Two trophies were presented by Mr. H. C. Barratt to the first and second in an open 250yds race. The first race i drew large entries, the event being won by Miss P. Boucher, with Miss Moran in second place. The results of the remainder of the events are as follow: School Championship.—Adele Newman (Russell), 10 points, 1; Arthur Moran and J.
