SOCCER FOOTBALL
ANNUAL A.F.A. MEETING The annual general meeting of the Auckland Football Association u ill he held at the Y.M.C.A. to-morrow nening, when a big muster of players and club delegates is anticipated. A summary of the annual report lias appeared previously, but the custom of supplying the clubs " lt “ the annual Balance sheet before the meeting has not been followed this year. The report indicates that the financial position “will not make such pleasant reading as those of foi me. years ” so that the club delegates must he prepared to discuss a somewhat disturbing situation owing to the shocking weather last winter, wmen greatly affected the attendance at Blandford Park, and the litigation over the sub-lease of the Soccer headquarters. which adds to the worries of tlm management. It is hoped the clubs will be entrusted with the fullest knowledge of the position, and they can
then be relied on to rally round and put matters on a sound lootingSo’ iteresting remits and amendments to the vulesjind by-laws will come up tor aiscu&sion U - N . One from the management is the suggestion that the bugbear of ground fees be abolished by the ATTtaking over the responsibility ot pay in-- for all grounds, recoveung the | cost by an increased levy in the aflilia- | tion and capitation fees. The P* nosal should find favour with Idas ers. and more especially with laias.u i club canty ins and treasuleis. yy lio nay e to chase the nimble sixpences. The remit from the Referees' Association that the annual general meeting bo held at the end of the season does not appear popular. Other remits are in the direction of enlarging the poyveis c.f the management to deal with lmnroper behaviour or misconduct by any person. An important proposal is one from the Management Committee setting up an independent Judicial Committee of three persons yvho shall not be connected directly or indirectly with any club or branch of the A.F.A.. this committee to investigate and repoit to the management on all cases of P ll ’’''
ment for disciplinary otlences. rue proposal is a debatable one. which impresses at first glance with the idea that it may save the management a lot of time now devoted each week to -inquests ' and carpeted offenders. The Onehunga and Tramways Clubs both remit that hardy annual, the "insurance of players." but with so generous a free insurance scheme available as that offered by The Sun. which proved so valuable a boon to injured players last season, a contributory system, which means a big levy on pla>ers. clubs and the A.F.A.. is difficult to j operate in an equitable or workable | manner. ELECTION OF OFFICERS i The election of nine members for the i Management Committee is sure to be I keenlv contested, as twice that num- | her are offering themselves for selection. The whole of the retiring comi mitteemen offer their services loi an- | Other season, and the candidates are: lie Baker J. Ball, K- Bannister, J. I Campbell, J. M. Downey E Dugmore. A. Fletcher, A. Fraser. H. Gnbble A. ■X Hankins 11- Harrison, J. T- Jennings K Knight, G. T. I-eo. B. Meese, A *Men Z ies. H. Reason, T. G. Wilkes.
