NOT TOO OLD

ITANY years have come and since the days when S. G. Smith was rated as one of the best amateur cricketers in England. The veteran smilingly confesses to 47 summers, but he is as well preserved as a man ten years his junior, and he wheels up his innocent-looking off breaks at Eden Park Saturday after Saturday almost as well as ever he did. Again Eden on Saturday, “S.G.” started off with seven maidens in his first 11 overs, and later on, he struck a purple patch which yielded him two good wickets in short order. Too old at 47? Not a bit of it!
