BUILDING PERMITS REFUSED AT TAKAPUNA
LEGAL ACTION TO BE TAKEN As a result of the persistent refusal of the Takapuna Borough Council, at the instigation of the Health Department, to grant permits for buildings 10 be erected on the Lake Takapuna watershed, a test case will be brought before the Supreme Court. The council has been served, with a notice of the intention of a property-owner to move for a mandamus requiring the council to approve a plan of subdivision of land on the watershed area. The council's refusals to authorise permits is strengthened by an undertaking on the part of the Government that if legal proceedings should be taken by any applicant, the State would stand behind the borough in the matter of the expense of defending the action. • ‘
