ON THE ’CHANGE

HEALTHY TONE IN MARKET SOUTH BRITISH FIRM The distinctly brighter tone which t-ot in on 'Change yesterday was maintained this morning when, although the actual volume of business written was not large, a healthy tone was registered in the market for most of the better classes of securities. Insurances meet with a strong demand, with South British hardening from sales at 58s 3d a few days ago to one at £3 this morning. Nationals ‘have been done at 15s 6d. A wider range of banking scrip Is offering at the moment than has been the case for many months. A firm tone prevails in the section. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile scrip remains in constant demand on a market registering a rising tendency. Coals are practically idle, but in steady demand. Buyers of Pukemiros moved up to 64s this morning, with sellers still absent. Miscellaneous scrip is increasing in popularity, with more buyers than sellers. A healthy tone is registered for most shares in this section. Mining is dull and practically neglected.
