ROAD TRAFFIC BLOCKED

GISBORNE-OPOTIKI ROUTE (From Our Own Correspondent) OPOTIKI, To-day. Owing to heavy southerly weather, accompanied by heavy rain, the Opo-tiki-Gisborne road is blocked to all traffic. The floods and the muddy state of the road are causing all service cars passing to be turned to the railhead at Motuhora, thence to Opotiki by car. Conditions to-day showed no improvement, with the result that passengers entraining at Gisborne are being met by motor-car at Motuhora. The new system will operate until conditions are again favourable to resume the normal timetable. At passengers arriving from Opotiki are several hours late, and missing the connections to Auckland.
