SWIMMING CARNIVAL
GRAMMAR CLUB TUESDAY ATTEMPTS ON RECORDS A varied programme of swimming events has been arranged for Tuesday evening at the Tepid Baths, when the Grammar Club will hold a carnival. Two attempts on records will be made. Aliss Ena Stockley will endeavour to lower her 100 metres record for the salt-water backstroke of 88s. This is 1 l-5s faster than Miss B. AJealing’s Australian record. Miss Gladys Pidgeon, the New Zealand breaststroke champion will make an attempt on her 220yds record of 3.35 3-5. The remainder of the programme promises to carry a great deal of interest, and will include the following events: 440yds. men’s open handicap, 100yds. open breaststroke handicap, 100yds. ladies’ handicap, 220yds. ladies’ handicap, 50yds. novice handicap, 50yds. Grammar Schoolboys’ handicap, 50yds. junior girls’ handicap, 200yds. dual inter-club challenge cup race, 50yds. men’s inter-club handicap, Grammar Schoolboys’ relay challenge cup race.
