HUT FIRE ENGINE-DRIVfiR’S DISCOVERY (From, Our Resident Reporter.) WELLIN'GTON, Friday. Alone in a railwayman's hut at Pukerua Bay Archibald James Amundsen, aged 26, a railway tablet porter, was found in a dying condition and the hut in flames. When a goods train passed through the Pukerua Bay station at about midnight last night the engine-driver saw smoke coming from the hut. With a porter, he went to the hut and found Amundsen unconscious in a crouching position on the floor near the door. Amundsen was severely burned about the upper portion of the body. He was carried to the train and taken to Porirua, where medical attention was given him. From there he was taken to Johnsonville, where the train was met by the ambulance and Amundsen was admitted to the Weilington Hospital at three o’clock this morning. He died at nine o’clock. It is understood the deceased’s parents live at Clive, near Hastings.
