RED CROSS TO HOLD ANNUAL CONFERENCE
VISIT OF GENERAL CHAMPAIN Delegates from all parts of New Zealand will foregather in Auckland next Wednesday, when the annual conference of the New Zealand Red Cross Society will commence. Mr. J. A. Flesher, of Christchurch, will preside. Added importance will be given to the conference by the presence of Brigadier-General Bateman-Champain, secretary-general to the British Red Cross Society. Brigadier - General Champain, who is now touring the Dominion, will arrive in the city on Tuesday afternoon from Rotorua. At noon a civic reception will be tendered to the visitor, who will later attend the conference. A lengthy agenda paper includes a proposal to change the status of the New Zealand Society to enable it to vote at the International Red Cross Conference at Geneva. A remit deals with a proposal to co-operate with the Health Department for the provision of Red Cross nurses in backblock districts.
