WITH SPECIAL POWERS
J.P.’S FOR CHILDREN’S COURT NEW APPOINTEES WELCOMED The recent appointment of Mr. W. M. Jackson, and Mr. H. T. Halliwell, as Justices of the Peace with special jurisdiction in the Children’s Court, was referred to this morning, when Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., welcomed Mr. Jackson. The magistrate pointed out that tlie new appointments were made primarily because both appointees had legal experience behind them. The object was to enable the Court to sit when a magistrate \yas not available. It was hoped that in the near future there would be a weekly, instead of a fortnightly, sitting of the Court. Both Mr. Jackson and Mr. Halliwell are well known, said Mr. Cutten, and no better appointment could have been made.
