Takapuna’s Regatta

KEEN RACING ASSURED HANDICAPS DECLARED Indications point to a most interesting day’s sailing to-morrow when the Takapuna Boating Club holds its annual regatta. Good entries have been received in most classes. The Devonport Band has been engaged, and afternoon tea will be provided for the further diversion of visitors to the clubhouse at Bayswater. The racing officials will be: —Starter, Mr. F. Fortzer: timekeepers, Messrs. A. Rambaud and C. Brinsden; flag stewards, Messrs. J. Deacon and S. Hicks; recorder, Mr. J. J. McKay; judge, Mr. W. A. A race for outboard motor-boats will also be held. Post entries will be received and the course will be decided upon to-morrow afternoon. In addition to the sailing and powerboat races, a number of side-shows will be staged. YACHT SQUADRON RACE MAY BE RESAILED ALEXANDER TROPHY EVENT If a suitable date can be arranged, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron will hold the race to Te Kume for the Alexander Memorial Cup. A race for the trophy was held last Saturday but was declared “off’ 1 ’ owing to a misunderstanding. The decision of the Sailing Committee was confirmed by the General Committee. A HOUSE WARMING To celebrate the completion of the alterations to the club-rooms, which have undergone complete renovation and enlargement, a special club night will be held this evening.
