HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLE The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated March 14, from the High Commissioner lor New Zealand, London:— "Wool sales opened yesterday, with a. large attendance of Home and Continental buyers. Keen demand, well distributed and prices reflecting the higher range established in overseas markets. Compared with closing rates last series, Merino was par to 5 per cent., New Zealand crossbred greasy, fine S per cent., medium and coarse crossbred 5 per cent to 7i per cent, higher. Slipe 5 per cent to 71 per cent. Tendency firmer. One hundred and twenty-live thousand bales available for series, of which 43,500 are z^ aJ and, 52,600 Australian, and 22,000 isouth American."
