OLYMPIC CARNIVAL

ATTACK ON SWIMMING RECORDS APPEARANCE OF CHAMPIONS With the idea of raising funds to assist in sending Misses E. Stockley (Auckland), K. Miller (Otago) and L. P. Lindsay (Canterbury) to Amsterdam to participate in the Olympic Games, the Auckland Swimming Centre will hold a carnival in the Tepid Baths this evening. The programme drawn up is one of the most attractive yet given, and will give the public an opportunitv of seeing the best of Auckland’s swimmers in action. Misses Stockley and Miller will also appear for the first time since their return from a victorious tour of Australia. Miss Stockley will make an attempt on the 100 metres record, and Miss Miller will endeavour to lower the 440yds record. Both will appear in the 66 2-3yds handicap race, and then give an exhibition swim. A number of other events promise good sport. The handicaps are: 150Yds Breast-stroke Handicap.—T. Lowe, scr: J.
