AUTUMN CARNIVAL RACING AT TRENTHAM LEGER TO SATRAP NUCLEUS WINS HIGH-WEIGHT (Special to THE SUN) WELLINGTON, To-day. The Wellington Racing Club’s autumn meeting was commenced at Trent ham to-day in fine weather. The track was hard and fast, and the attendance was fair. Results are: HIGH-WEIGHT HANDICAP Of £260; 1J miles. 5 NUCLEUS. 9.12 1 2—LANCER, 9.3 2 I—BRIGHT DAY, 10.11 3 Scratched: Quarter Deck, Fallow. Won by a neck. Time, 2.11. Nucleus Comes Through Uralla was first to show out and led along the back from Nucleus, Lancer, Panorama, Lady Gay knd Bright Day. There was little alteration passing the seven-furlong peg, but a little further on Bright Day made a forward movement. Uralla was the first to turn for home, but when the field straightened up Lancer hit the front, but Nucleus came through, and stalling off Lancer, won by half a length. Bright Day was a similar distance away, third, followed by Uralla, Lady Gay and Panorama. NEW ZEALAND ST. LEGER STAKES Of £750; 12 miles I—SATRAP, 8.10 1 7—TALISKER, 8.10 2 6 DAMARIS, 8.7 .. 3 Scratched: Doree. Won by three and a-half lengths. Time, 3.0. Satrap Easily Shalimar led past the stands from Damaris, Satrap and Talisker; at the nine-furlongs post Satrap ran to the front and showed the way along the back to Damaris, Shalimar, Talisker, with Great Charter and Wild Pigeon next. Satrap was still in command going across the top, and led into the straight three lengths in advance of Talisker, Damaris and Wild Pigeon. Satrap cleared out a furlong from home, and easily beat Talisker by four lengths. Damaris was a length away, then followed Great Charter, Wild Pigeon, Shalimar and Discourse. PLUNKET NURSERY HANDICAP Of £300; 5 furlongs I—MISS RANSOM, 7.10 1 4 MITHRA, 8.7 .... 2 5 ROYAL DUKE, 7.12 3 Scratched: Banket, Tcheka, First Ruler. Won by half a length. Time, 59. Miss Ransom Sprints Home Royal Duke and Knightlike were the most promininet at the head of a bunched field entering the straight. Royal Duke was in front at the distance post, but Miss Ransom ran to the front half a furlong from home and beat the fast-finishing Mithra by half a length'. Royal Duke, who tired over the last bit, was a similar distance away third, followed by Knightlike, Prickles, Gold Bag and Tea Miss. THOMPSON HANDICAP Of £1,000; 1 mile I—JOY1 —JOY KING, 8.3 1 4 BRIGHT GLOW, 7.11 2 6 DUKE ABBEY, 7.10 3 All started. Won by a length and a-half. Time, 1.35 1-4,
