5,000 SHEEP IN 6J HOURS (From Ou.r Own Correspondent.) RAETIHI, To-day. Smart work was done recently in trucking a large quantity of sheep from Raetihi railway station by the Railway Department, and a record for the district was established. After the Raetihi ewe fair, held on the 24th ult., Dalgety and Company, Ltd., trucked 5,000 sheep in the 6£ hours commencing at 8 p.m., and finishing at 2.30 a.m. the following morning.The department requisitioned three special trains consisting of 75 trucks and these were loaded with sheep and dispatched to purchasers’ destinations. Th 0 department’s efficient trucking arrangements were very favourably commented ypon.
