HEAD-ON SMASH

MIRACULOUS ESCAPE (From Our Oicn Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, To-day. The rider of a motor-cycle, Robert Quaife, aged 45, of Kauri, had a miraculous escape from death last night. He was concerned in a collision with a powerful Hudson car and after the accident Mr. Quaife was found underneath the car, near the back. His right shoulder was dislocated, his left leg fractured, and he is also suffering from shock and abrasions. The collision was a head-on one and occurred as Mr. Quaife was turning to go into the gate of his home at Kauri. The injured man was taken to the Whangarei Hospital by Mr. George Hanson, tine driver of the Hudson.
