WANGANUI TROTS

PRESENTATION CUPS J. R. CORRIGAN’S DONATION {Special to THE SUN) WANGANUI, Tuesday. The Wanganui Trotting Club’s forthcoming fixture has received fresh interest by the presentation to the club of two handsome silver cups by Mr. J. R. Corrigan, of Hawera, who has

been a consistent supporter of the club for a great number of years. Trotting enthusiasts generally are most appreciative of the interest taken in the club’s welfare by the Hawera sportsman, and his desire to see the sport flourish in Wanganui. Dillon Gold, who won at Invercargill and was penalised 24 yards at Timaru, easily accounted for the Seadown Handicap. Townley’s horse had the race in safe keeping a long way from home and on the second day was again in the money. The Harold Dillon gelding, whose dam was the well-known speedy West Coast pacer Lluvia d’ Oro, took some time to get solid, but he appears to be set now. Reciprocity Lacking Some comment is being made in Australian sporting circles over the apparent refusal of the Victoria Racing Club to recognise disqualifications imposed by the trotting authorities. It appears that John James, who was disqualified by the New South Wales Trotting Club for 12 months, for careless driving, has been granted a licence by the Victoria Racing Club on condition that he confined his attention to gallopers. The Australian Jockey Club recognises suspensions by trotting clubs.
