FORGED TICKETS
BOOKMAKER IS TRICKED TIN HARE MEETING A bookmaker, who operated for the first time at an Epping mechanical bare meeting recently, met more than his full share of trouble. He was a victim of tricksters, paying out on forged tickets, and has thus lost about £45. He had run short of cash on *tlie course at Epping, and had to ask several of his clients to bring their tickets to the G.C.A. office the following day, when they would be settled. The bookmaker turned up and brought sufficient money to settle, but some of those who made winning bets have not yet received their money, because a number of the tickets issued by him were duplicated with forged tickets bearing similar numbers. When checking the numbers and paying out he did not notice some of the tickets paid were of a different series. They were forgeries. Will Be Paid Other genuine tickets have been presented for payment, but their numbers have been marked off by the bookmaker as paid. He does not yet know how much more he will have to pay. A few of these tickets have been held over, but the bookmaker has lodged money at the G.C.A. office to meet them. The tickets will be paid when presented at the office again
