BURNED TO DEATH. —”.t is believed that 22 men perished in a fire in an American-owned copper mine near Tezuttlan, in the State of Puebla, Mexico. Eleven bodies have been recovered.—A. and N.Z. FIREMEN DROWNED. —ln the course of the fierce weather during the week-end two firemen were drowned through the overturning of their ~kiff in a blizzard at the Kyles of Bute, Scotland.—A. and N.Z. TURKEYS DELEGATE. —The Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tewtik Rushdi Bey, has been appointed Turkey’s delegate to the forthcoming sittings of the Preparatory Committee on Disarmament at Geneva. —A. and N.Z. UNEMPLOYED IN N.S.W. —Th e New South Wales State Cabinet has decided to convene a conference of persons interested in the unemployment question, with the object of ascertaining the cause of unemployment of seeking a solution of the problem.—a. and N.Z. N.S.W. DRINK BILL.—The Government Statistician estimates that the drink bill of New South Wales for the financial year 1926-27 amounted to £-3,220,000, equal to £5 12s 7d a head of the population, and an increase of £c*S9,ooo compared with the previous year.—A. and N.Z.
