THE SCOUT SCARF
To an outsider, the scarf worn by the Scouts seems to be as much an ornament as anything else, but in reality it serves many useful purposes. It is perhaps the most useful of all the articles in the Scout uniform. It is used in many games, as a head-dress, for stalking, trophy in snatch the scarf. It is used as a flag, indicating certain spots in marking bearings. It can be used for a belt, a wrap for a lunch, a safe place for valuables while in camp. It can be turned into a suitable bathing costume when the swimming place is sufficiently secluded. In signalling it is useful in both Morse and semaphore system. In first aid its uses are unlimited—only, all Scouts should know this, never apply the scarf to an undressed wound.
