TREATY WITH CANADA
DELAYED NEGOTIATIONS MR. DOWNIE STEWART MAY TRAVEL Press Association. WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Attempts to negotiate a trade treaty between New Zealand and Canada have apparently been suspended temporarily. It had been suggested that the Minister of Finance, the Hon. \V. Downie Stewart, intended to proceed to Canada to confer with the authorities there. Mr. Stewart was asked to-day if he couid throw any light on the subject. He said a proposal was under discussion by the Government, but, owing to the fact that the Canadian Parliament would be in session for some time, the proposal had been laid aside in tho meantime.
