EASTERN RAIL LAYOUT
QUESTION OF IMPROVEMENT INTERESTED BODIES TO CONFER A xi invitation by the Chamber of Commerce to appoint representatives to attend a conference of the various bodies inetrested in the proposed layout of the railway east of King’s Wharf was received by the Harbour Board at its meeting yesterday. The chamber pointed out it had passed no judgment upon the matter, hut some of its members still believed that improvements could be made. It had therefore decided to call the conference. On the motion of the chairman, it was resolved that he, with Mr. T. B. Clay, the engineer, and the traffic manager, should represent the board at tho conference. Mr. Mackenzie said the board naturally wanted the lay-out best suited to its needs. The Railway Department was responsible for the proposed lay-out. If anyone could suggst a better scheme the board would be pleased.
