EMPIRE
TWO FEATURE FILMS “The Life of Riley,” a First National Pictures feature comedy that heads the entertainment bill at the Empire Theatre, brings the funnier and bigger laugh makers to the local screen in the persons of George Sidney and Charlie Murray. Each of the famous stage and film comics is more brilliant and sparkling and ludicrous for the presence of the other in “The Life of Riley.” They play Chief of Police and Fire Chief respectively of a rustic village. Myrtle Stedman takes the role of a village widow for whose hand the comedians wage war, and Sam Hardy is the villain who tries to take her from them. This four-cornered love affair is a comedy scream from beginning to end, but sweetly wistful and pleasant junior romance goes with it. “Back to God’s Own Country,” starring Renee Adore, will also be shown.
