TRAM MEN DISCHARGED
MORE UNDER NOTICE GRADUAL STAFF REDUCTION I A few more men have been disj charged by the Tramway Department j during the pa&t week, the total now { being about a dozen. ; The manager explains that the rei duction in staff has been made gradj ually, as the feeder services and other I revised time-tables have worked into I order. The department has retained I services as long as it could in view of the unemployment conditions outside, and the men under notice have been given relieving work, arid have also been engaged on reconditioning and altering buses. In some cases the men actually discharged have been included in this work, but the move does not imply reinstatement.
A few employees are under notice, and will leave during the next few weeks.
