EXPLOSION IN STREET
FAULTY CABLE CONNECTION Passers-by in Albert Street wer* surprised, and not a little alarmed, this morning when, with ;x dull explosion and an outpouring of dens* smoke, a section of the pavement burst open at: their feet. The connecting box on the corner o<" Albert and Victoria Streets where font electric cables meet, was responsible for the explosion, the force of which lifted the corcrete trap in the pavement and broke it into s«a eral pieces. A repair gang was soon at hand to remedy the fault, which will cause no disruption of the electrical service.
