TAURANGA BURGLARY
PRISONERS SENTENCED MISSING GOODS FOUND HAMILTON. To-day. Found guilty of breaking and entering a garage at Tauranga on January 27 and stealing seven cases of traveller's samples of clothing, Iva George Land, 27 years, and Bernard Francis Murray, 21 years, came up before Mr. Justice Blair in the Supreme Court to-day for sentence. After counsel for accused had asked for leniency, his Honour admitted Murray to probation for three years, saving: “I have made mistakes before, a.n’d I may do so again. I hope you see to it that I have not made one on this occasion.” „ His Honour said Land had been the leading spirit, and had deliberately committed perjury in his effort to escape conviction. He was sentenced to three vears' reformative detention. The Crown Prosecutor. Mr. H. T. Gillies, said that as a result of an anonymous letter to the police, the whole of the missing goods were found nt Waharoa Railway Station.
