MR. F. PARKER Formerly a bank manager at Gisborne and Dunedin, Mr. Frederick Parker, who died at Rotorua on Thursday, was buried at "Waikumete Cemetery yesterday. Flags were flown half-mast at the Bank of New South Wales and at the Northern Club as tributes to his memory. Many friends and officials attended the funeral. Mr. Parker, who was born in New Zealand, became successively accountant in the inspector’s office of the Bank of New South Wales at Christchurch, accountant at Napier, manager at Gisborne for 25 years, and manager at Dunedin. After serving at Dunedin for 10 years he retired on superannuation about three years ago and made his ] home at Remuera. His wife survives him and there are three sons, Mr. Humphrey Parker, who recently returned from U.S.A., and two who are solicitors in Gisborne. MR. WILLIAM * MATTHEWS For half a century Mr. William Matthews, who died at his home, Seymour Street, Ponsonby, on Sunday, had been a shipbuilder in Auckland. Born here 70 years ago, Mr. Williams was apprenticed to the late Mr. J. Clare, and he afterwards was employed by Mr. H. Niccol. Later he became foreman for Mr. George Niccol and under his direction many ships were built. His wife, who is the youngest daughter of the late Mr. George Pulman, survives him, and there are four sons of the marriage. MR. ROBERT WILSON Press Association. WELLINGTON, Monday. The death occurred last Saturday i morning of Mr. Robert Wilson, a wellknown Wellington woollen merchant, in his 51st year. He had been ill for some time, and his death was not unexpected. Mr. Wilson was born in Kilmarnock. Scotland, and came to New Zealand with his parents when he was a child. He learnt his business with Messrs. Ross and Glendining before starting on his own account, first as Phelps, Wilson and Company, and latterly as Robert Wilson and Com--1 uanv.
