SMALL SHOPKEEPERS

HOSTILITY TO RESTRICTIONS STAND IN WELLINGTON (From Our Resident Reporter .) WELLINGTON, To-day. The stand taken by tobacconists against small shopkeepers is to be discussed at a meeting of small shop3*eepers to be held here, and the formation of a Wellington Shopkeepers* Association is proposed. Tho small shopkeepers intended to fight the restrictions placed on them, said Mr. G. W. Phillips, convener of to-day’s meeting. H e expected a big meeting. There are now far too many restrictions' placed on the small shopkeeper. There gj-e a number of soldiers’ widows who have bought small confectionery businesses, and who are solely dependent on these businesses for a living. With the restrictions now in force, however, and with others coming, it will mean that these women will have to close their shops.
