NEW MAORI PARTY

TO SUPPORT TREATY (From Oar Own Correspondent.) KAIKOHE, Tuesday. At a gathering of natives at Ngapuhi, Kaikohe, last week, the present political situation as it affects the Maori race was fully discussed. It was agreed to try and form a new Rational Maori political party that would hold fast to the Treaty of Waitangi as the Magna Charta of the Maori race. The name selected tentatively for the new party is the “Treaty of Waitangi Party,” and committees are being formed to select a candidate to contest the Northern Maori seat -at the next election in the new party's interest.
