AUSTRLIAN CAPTAIN GIVES IMPRESSIONS OF VISITORS* TOUR : That there has been a big im- , provement in the standard of New Zealand cricket in the past six or seven years was the opinion expressed to a SUN man last ; night by Mr. V. V. Richardson, the captain of the Australian team which is touring the Dominion. J THINK it is largely due to the interchange of visits with other countries,” remarked Mr. Richardson. ‘‘Dickinson bowled exceptionally well against us at Dunedin. As he got wickets, the better lie bowled. Badc-ock is a fine all-rounder.” THE FIRST TEST The Australians left last evening for New Plymouth. After playing “Cricket will always reach a certain stage in its development where it requires experience against other countries to supply the finishing touches. It lias been very noticeable to us that the players who visited Australia a year or two ago and who went Home last year are more polished cricketers in every way. SUBURBAN CRICKET MEETING OF EXECUTIVE AN APPEAL UPHELD At a meeting of the Management Committee of the Auckland Suburban Cricket Association held last evening, the position of a team being requested to fellow on was the subject of an appeal from the Epsom Baptists' junior club. According to a delegate, the Epsom Baptists sent Bllerslie into bat again by the mutual agreement of both captains. Ellerslie was beaten by an innings. Two weeks later the Junior Advisory Cimmittee ordered the match to be replayed, after the respective clubs’ delegates had put forward the suggestion. Mr. Dickson said that the laws of the game had to be upheld, and the agreement of the two captains must be respected. On account of the protest rule not being complied with, the Junior "Board was out of order in dealing with the case. It was decided to uphold the appeal. A letter was received from the Auckland branch of the Olympic Council asking for an affiliation fee. The chairman said it was the duty of every sports organisation to assist New Zealand in being represented at the Olympiad. It was decided to ask the Olympic Council for further information.
