CLOUDS OBSCURE SUMMIT Fress Association. NATIONAL PARK, To-day. A bright glow was to be seen above the crater at Ngauruhoe from 9 to 10 o’clock last evening, and about 11 o’clock black smoke again rose in a heavy column. A thick column of steam was seen rising to-day whenever the summit was not obscured by clouds. Mr. A. Cowling reports from Whakapapa that the rumbling has ceased, but a glow is still visible this evening and a good column of steam is ascending. WHITE ISLAND LIVELY (Special to THE SUN) TORERE, To-day. White Island was unusually active on Saturday.
